Paul and Silas were jailed for preaching the good news. While in jail, they knew what they wanted. They prayed, and the doors were opened, and when the jailer woke up, he wanted to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul and Silas stopped him, assuring him that no one had escaped. “The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them outside and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They answered, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household’” (Acts 16:29-32). The lesson we can draw from this experience of Paul and Silas is that knowledge coupled with the right action is power. Thus, their action influenced the jailer to join them.
