One would expect that God who is all powerful and all-knowing would have given the best treat to the Child Jesus but to the contrary, he allowed him to go through life threatening situations. For instance, the Gospel of Matthew contains this threatening situation, “Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him’” (Mtt 2:13). We now know why Herod was after the child Jesus. He was not ready to witness the growth and development of the little one who would replace him. The knowledge of the potential of a newborn child threatened a king in power. This turned out to be a challenge to Joseph who had the responsibility to protect the child Jesus and his mother
Today, the world continues to express hostility to innocent children. Children who are supposed to be leaders of tomorrow are being threatened by the absence of their parents. The result is poor competence of a child that is linked with the presence of their father.Imagine if Joseph was not available, what would have happened to Mary and the child Jesus. In modern society, it seems normal for parents to choose a good-paying job at the expense of parental care. The effects of absent parents in the lives of children turns out to be the source of stress on parents because money cannot fix the problems their children.
CALISCO challenges you as a parent to choose either to blame the undesirable situation that your children will be in tomorrow or make a sacrifice today to be there for your children to help them build their competence in life. As CALISCO, we are there also to encourage you to make wise choices since the future of your children is more important than money in the bank. You never know where that child will be tomorrow yet what happens to them today can shut down their dreams. Just remember, no number of regrets will fix the wrongs of yesterday.
