No matter what your family has experienced, there is hope

Jesus’s disciples worked the whole night without catching fish, and after he had finished with the crowd, he instructed them to cast the nets to the deep end. “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,’ Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.’  Simon answered, ‘Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down thenets’ (Luke 5:5-6). The doubt of Peter was cleared by the great catch.

We may doubt whether our family situation will ever change. Today, Christ is challenging us to get into the depths of the situation, that is, to discover its cause. In most cases, we deal with the results of the problems, yet we keep saying we are working hard to solve them. Could we say that we have a common understanding of what our real problem is? Probably, to get into the depths of the situation requires a trustworthy person to shed light on what is happening. Why did Christ decide to attend to the crowd before turning to the disciples? What are our priorities? Maybe there is something we need to deal with so that we can free everyone to participate in unlocking our situation.

CALISCO believes in having priorities right. This can be achieved through inclusive dialogue. From the lesson of the disciples casting the net in the deep end, could it be a reminder to Peter of their failure to attend to the needs of the people? As you cast the net deep in resolving your family situation, take time to reflect and determine the priorities correctly.
