Difficult situations drain resources such that no one would wish any possibility of an intervention to be delayed. Yet if there is hope, there is a future. In the case of the wedding at Cana, the servants faced a challenge that needed a solution; “When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you’” (John2:3-5). Why did Jesus not respond immediately to the request of his mother?Instead, he said his hour has not come. How did the servants receive the response of Jesus? The mother of Jesus noted the frustration of the servants for not getting a solution immediately. She encouraged them to remain vigilant and do whatever he told them. We can draw two lessons from this situation; hope and patience are necessary in overcoming challenges.
Now, think of any situation in your life that you expected an urgent intervention in, but which did not happen. How did you feel about lacking support? In either way, what is important is the lesson you learn from what happened and not why it happened. Secondly, how to leverage the right attitude for a better future. The mother of Jesus knew and trusted that her son would act to save the situation. This lesson acts as a precaution to anyone who would wish to have immediate gratification. But also, it calls for preparation to take courage to face the challenge with the hope of overcoming it.
Today, CALISCO challenges you to test your hope and patience in challenging situations. It doesn’t matter what you have gone through; what matters is how you will emerge from it. Let this be your prayer daily: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of David teach me to choose the right attitude in every situation of my life.” There is no difficult situation that can overwhelm you when you have the right attitude.
